New England Match Longest Winning Streak Since Brady Years with Triumph Over New York Jets
Rookie Henderson has recorded five touchdowns this season
The New England Patriots tied their best victory streak since the Brady era as they overcame division rivals the Jets 27-14 in professional football
Rookie TreVeyon Henderson was the standout with three TDs as the Patriots notched an eighth consecutive victory for the first time since legendary quarterback Brady's last year with the team in 2019
Signal-caller Maye accumulated 281 yards and a TD, connecting on 25 of 34 passes
Victory extends the New England's lead at the top of the division as they improved to nine wins and two defeats, with the New York at the foot after dropping to a 2-8 mark
The Jets had taken the lead at Foxborough with QB Fields scoring a short rushing score to finish the Jets' first possession
But the New England answered in the second period as Henderson rushed for two seven-yard TDs before the ball carrier grabbed a reception from Drake Maye at the back of the end zone midway through the third quarter to make it 21 to 7
"It was a key occasion for him rising to the challenge, and it's been fantastic for him to keep gaining experience," the quarterback commented on the rookie. "He wants to be great."
Fields threw to Metchie toward the end of the third period to narrow the deficit for the visitors but Borregales converted a pair of field goals in the fourth quarter as the home side wrapped up the win
